Frequently Asked Questions
We recieve a lot of inquiries about our dogs and website, so we decided to add this page of frequently asked questions to cover some of the topics we find would be interesting to note.
Q: Why do you breed?
Answer: We breed to expand and improve the Biewers because we simply love them. Absolute Biewer was started because we found these little white/black and tan dogs to be so special and incredible in their own right.
Breeding is our hobby, not our business. A good breeder will occasionally barely break even with the sales of their puppies and thats the huge difference between a ethical breeder and a commercial/pet shop breeder!
We truly care about our dogs and our motivation lies in helping families find their near perfect family four-legged family member.
Q: What is the breed standard or temperament of a Biewer?
Answer: Here is an excellent page that has some very general information about the breed.
Although, it's good to also note that the temperament of each dog also depends more on his or her personality than the breed.
Q: How are your puppies priced?
Answer: Our puppies are priced to what we feel is fair for the overall breed, quality and health of our puppies.
The Biewer is still a very rare breed in North America and the market price for a Biewer is generally priced around $2,000 - $5,000. With very few priced at $1,000.
Just to get started with our program, we had to import all our adults into Canada and there's no cheap alternative or time consuming cost cuts to breed these very beautiful dogs!
We also concern ourselves with the quality and health of puppies, after a litter is born we often make many trips to the vet (often resulting in very large vet bills) to make sure that every puppy is healthy and ready for their new home.
Again, we don't cut corners and give our puppies the best health care that is available to us. If your budget does not allow for Biewer, we would highly recommend finding an alternative breed. If you need help finding some suggestions, please contact us and we might be able to help you!
Q: Do you have TeaCups or Tiny Biewers?
Answer: Since the gene pool of the Biewer is still very small, we will occasionally have very small puppies in the same litter along with some very big puppies.
However, I just wanted to address that most websites online will tell you that there are no such thing as a Teacup Yorkie, Poodle, Maltese, etc. And that is partially right! The AKC or CKC do not recognize teacups
as a breed on their own because the puppies are simply the same breed as any Yorkie, Poodle, Maltese, but below the size standard. TeaCup is a marketing term coined by breeders to take advantage of the current market trend. TeaCups are generally the smallest puppy in their litter and some can be quite difficult to raise until 6-7 weeks of age.
Some can be very healthy, but others can have some complication in their life span and are very fragile -not compatible with small children. If you are still considering a smaller puppy, please be aware of issues that may arise!
Q: Why are Females and Males priced differently? And can I have the breeding rights?
Answer: Due to demand, females are priced differently than males.I'm especially picky with placing females than males because most often, buyers are only find them important for breeding and not as a companion. I'm looking for the reverse!
I would love my puppies (females and males) to be find homes where first and foremost they are treated as a loving member of the household and then perhaps a breeder for the RIGHT intention and reasons.
I cringe every time I find emails bluntly asking to purchase a breeding pairs of Biewers. First off, I do NOT breed enough litters to match a male and a female that are not related. And second, it's always best to diversify your breeding lines unless its a truly exceptional pair.
I want my buyers to have done the research before they go into breeding instead of taking the shortcut by asking for a pair from every breeder until they find one.
I am more than happy to give you the breeding rights or help find a breeding partner for your Biewer that you purchase from me, but only if I feel that you're breeding for the right intentions.
And I wanted to add that male puppies are as sweet (if not sweeter) than females and less expensive to be fixed when they are older!
Q: Where is your home address or phone number and when can I come over and view your puppies?
Answer: Our home address and phone is not posted online listed due to obvious privacy and security concerns.
We are always concern about our puppies and family safety and viewing the puppies are only for serious inquiries and can either take place at our home or outside a designated place by appointment only.
